Alford's Tower House Restaurant Alford's Tower House
Restaurant

Owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Alford, Alford's Tower house featured steaks, chops, and dinners. The name was taken from a nearby tower that had been left when the old First Baptist Church building was demolished. Both the tower and the restaurant were torn down in July 1965 to make room for a new city hall and library complex. The citation on the back of this postcard says ALFORD'S TOWER HOUSE RESTAURANT, 210 East University Ave., Gainesville, Florida. Four Dining Rooms...Fully Air-Conditioned "Gainesville's Finest Place to Dine." This undated postcard was copied with the permission of Archie L. Jackson. (click image to view larger size)
