of Alachua County, 1838
This is an enlargement of a portion of an 1838 Searcy map of Florida showing the area that is Alachua County today. At the time, Alachua County reached as far south as the present-day Pasco-Hillsborough line. The map does not show several settlements which had existed before that time such as Spring Grove, Ft. Crum, Stanley's Settlement, and others, but it does show the roads with general accuracy although these were in poor condition for transport.
