University Avenue, 1937 and 1967
It was a clever idea-to take a photograph in 1967 from the same place that someone else had done the same thing 30 years earlier. When we study the two photographs, we find there are few things that appear in both pictures, but standouts are the Seagle Building (just completed in 1937, after standing unfinished for 10 years), automobiles, Green's Fuel, and Old Milwaukee Beer (a truck in the 1937 photo, just right of center, waiting to cross University Avenue, and a billboard above the yarn store in the 1967 photo). Especially absent in the 1967 photo is the abundance of trees.
