John Hiram Alderman
Born in 1872 near Melrose, John Hiram Alderman was a Gainesville dentist and businessman for many years. He married Mary Katherine Seigler and built their home on East University Avenue across from the Gainesville Graded & High School (now Kirby Smith). John was blind the final 10 years of his life but still managed to enjoy his favorite pastime of fishing until he died on August 12, 1941. He is buried in Evergreen Cemetery with his wife.
