Harry McCreary Merchant with Cow
Harry McCreary Merchant, the son of George Stuart and Sarah Richardson, was born in Gainesville around 1899. His father had a store and, apparently, a cow. Harry graduated from the University of Florida and the Tulane University Medical School, and he became a prominent Gainesville physician. He and his wife, Elizabeth, had two daughters, Elizabeth and Sarahanna, and one son, Miller. Dr. Merchant practiced medicine for 33 years; he died in his office in 1966 after suffering an apparent heart attack.
